Roanoke Women's Foundation awards $306,000 in Grants
Many Many Happy Returns of the Day to Roanoke Women's
Foundation and also thanks for recently awarded $306,000 in grants. The
Foundation has awarded this grant to six organizations and programs which focus
on health, education, art, culture, human resources and last but not lease
environment.
About Roanoke Women’s Foundation (RWF)
The RWF was established because it is obvious that women are
more fascinated than ever in philanthropy and want to have a higher voice in
where and how their efforts are spent. The RWF is open to females of all income
levels who have an attention in aggregating smaller gifts in purchase to make
significant effect grants to worthy companies in the community.
The RWF has been recognized to deliver women an opportunity
to become leaders in charitable giving by providing women a vehicle for
collaborative giving in reaction to our communities' many needs.
Since giving its first three grants — totaling $138,000 — in
2005, the foundation, a component fund of Foundation for Roanoke Valley, has
provided $2.1 million to 39 companies.
Grant money used for various following purposes:
Facility upgrades to vehicle purchases
Medical Care
Educational Opportunities for children and adults
Greenway expansion
Grants Money Distributed
The Salvation Army’s shelter for victims of domestic violence
and their children: Turning Point will
make its $90,000 award for a capital improvement program.
Child Health Investment Partnership of Roanoke Valley (CHIP):
$66,000
About CHIP
CHIP of Roanoke Valley is a beginning childhood home
visiting program. We pair low-income kids, ages birth to kindergarten-entry,
with a Group Health Nurse and Family Case Manager for health care coordination
(assist obtaining required medical solutions, support with the management of
serious circumstances, and precautionary services like fluoride dental
varnish); developmental education and learning, kindergarten preparation and
regular child evaluation and monitoring.
Family Promise of Greater Roanoke: $50,000
Plenty! : $40,000
Roanoke Children’s Theatre: $30,000
The Ronald McDonald House: $30,000
